Grecia arhaica a fost perioada din istoria Greciei care a durat din secolul al VIII-lea i.Hr. pana la a doua invazie persana a Greciei in 480 i.Hr. Perioada arhaica a cunoscut evolutii in politica greaca, economie, relatii internationale, razboi si cultura. In perioada arhaica s-a dezvoltat alfabetul grec, a fost compusa cea mai veche literatura greaca care a supravietuit, sculptura monumentala si ceramica cu figuri rosii au inceput in Grecia. Artistii au asimilat rapid stiluri si motive straine in noi portretizari ale propriilor mituri si obiceiuri, facand astfel bazele artei grecesti arhaice si clasice.
Archaic Greece was the period in Greek history that lasted from the 8th century BC. until the second Persian invasion of Greece in 480 BC. The archaic period saw developments in Greek politics, economy, international relations, war and culture. In the archaic period, the Greek alphabet was developed, the oldest surviving Greek literature was composed, monumental sculpture and red-figure pottery began in Greece. Artists quickly assimilated foreign styles and motifs into new portrayals of their own myths and customs, thus making the foundations of archaic and classical Greek art.
